Partnership with Parents

Information sharing with parents is very important to us at Pier Lodge Day Nursery.  Parents/carers are welcomed at the front door by senior staff who know the individual families.   Parents are asked to accompany their child to the classroom where they are met by the child’s key person and asked to sign the register for the child.  This gives an opportunity for first hand passing of information at the beginning and end of each session.  Contact sheets are provided detailing activities and food eaten.

Newsletters are used to inform parents of specific dates and events.

Other forms we use for giving parents information:

  • Information to parents form.
  • Medicine forms
  • Accident forms - Parents are always given a call if the Manager deems this necessary.

On entry to the nursery keyworkers aim to find out as much as possible about individual children and work closely with parents/carers to determine this.   This enables development planning to be individually targeted for the child’s Next Steps.

A termly parent evening is held for individual meetings between key person and parent.  This time is used to discuss overall development and transition to school.

Sessions are also held throughout the year on a variety of subjects for parent’s e.g. managing behaviour, emergent writing and being creative with children.

General information is also displayed on the notice boards in the Foyer for parent’s to always be informed and up to date with any developments.
